Candice Campbell

Coach Candice Campbell begins her 15th season coaching at Princeton High School and 20th season overall. Last season, the Lady Vikings finished in seventh place in the Greater Miami Conference Championships.

A proud Princeton graduate of 1990, Candice will begin her 20th school year as a paraprofessional in Special Education at Princeton. During her time as a Viking student-athlete, Candice was a part of the first state championship team in track & field in 1989 and was also a member of the 4x200 meter relay that won state. 

She won the state championship in the long jump during her senior year, and currently still holds the city record. Candice also holds the long jump record set back in 1989 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Ohio.

She continued her career at the University of Toledo where she became a three-time All-American in the long and triple jump. She holds the Mid American Conference record with a leap of 21 feet and 1.5 inches set in 1992. Candice was the first female athlete from the University of Toledo to compete in the 1992 Olympic Trials in New Orleans.

During her coaching career, Coach Campbell has been a part of many outstanding teams. In 2004, she coached the Mt. Notre Dame Cougars to a GGCL Track & Field Championship. In 2007, she helped the Vikings girls cross country team advance to Regionals. She coached Claudia Saunders who won the 2011 100-meter hurdles State Championship, and was the 2012 Cross Country State Champion. In 2013, Princeton girls’ cross country team qualified to Regionals, with an individual (Lindsay Meyers) qualifying for the state tournament. Most recently, Coach Campbell was a member of the track and field coaching staff that won the 2018 Greater Miami Conference Championships. She coached Angel Gazaway who won the 2018 State Championship in the 400 meter hurdles. In 2019, she helped the Vikings win the District Championships and Regional Runner-Up (back-to-back seasons).

Candice was elected into the Princeton Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. She is blessed to have two wonderful children and a husband of 17 years.
