Coach Gary Tameris is entering his 5th season as the head coach of the Men’s Swim Program,
and 39th season coaching swimming and water polo. Tameris was named the conference
coach of the year seven times (1998, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011). He also received
Southwest District Coach of the Year in 1998.
Coach was named the Boys Water Polo Coach of the Year in 2017.
In 1989, Tameris led Sycamore High School to the Girls State Water Polo Title. He later went on
to win two state titles for the men’s water polo program at Milford High School in 2006 and 2008.
During his coaching career, Tameris has won 696 water polo matches.
He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical
Education. He later earned his Masters of Education from Indiana University-Southeast.
Gary is married to his wife Heidi, and they have four children (Jaclyn, Heath, Jenna Lee, and
Cole).
