The Princeton girls varsity basketball team defeated Middletown 65-37 on Wednesday, January 4th at Middletown High School. The Vikings improved to 10-1 overall, and 5-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.
Princeton extended its' 24-20 first half lead by out-scoring the Middies 22-8 in the third quarter. The Lady Vikings finished the game on a 41-17 scoring run.
Solé Williams led the team with 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor. She finished with 6 steals and 4 rebounds.
Mari Gerton scored 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting. She added 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.
Princeton had 8 assists on 27 made field goals (43.5%).Â
Kali Fortson had a big game in the paint for the Lady Vikings. She finished with a game-high 11 rebounds, including 8 offensive rebounds. She also scored 6 points, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 1 assist in the win.
The Lady Vikings defense forced 30 turnovers and recorded 18 steals. Middletown finished the game shooting 31 percent from the floor.
