The Princeton girls basketball team defeated the Lakota East Thunderhawks 63-58 on Monday, January 30th at Viking Arena. The Lady Vikings move to 18-2 overall, and 12-2 in the Greater Miami Conference.Â
Lakota East entered the game 13-0 in league play, and jumped out to an early 19-13 first quarter lead. The Lady Vikings' offense answered the challenge by scoring 40 points over the second and third quarter.
The balance scoring attack was led by Mari Gerton's 16 point performance. She finished the game with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.Â
Dede Carter-Hartley recorded her third double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing down 13 rebounds. The senior also had season high 6 steals in the win.
La'Sonja Hill and Solé Williams each scored 14 points. Hill finished with 6 steals, 6 rebounds, and a season high 2 block shots.
Williams added 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and dished out 4 assists. As a team, Princeton made 23 field goals on 8 assists.
The Lady Vikings' offense finished the game shooting 32 percent from the floor.
Defensively, Princeton forced the Thunderhawks into 22 turnovers, and had 21 steals. Lakota East was led by Madison French's 16 point performance. The Thunderhawks finished the game shooting 38 percent from the floor.
Princeton travels to Oak Hills High School on Wednesday before hosting Lakota West in their home finale. The Lady Vikings and Highlanders will tip-off at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Game day tickets are available by visiting here.
