The Princeton varsity boys' basketball team defeated Winton Woods High Schools 60-53 in the second round of the Southwest District Sectional Tournament on Tuesday, February 25th at Hamilton High School. The Vikings improve to 17-7 overall.
In a first half that featured 6 lead changes and 4 ties, Princeton trailed 27-24 at halftime.
The third quarter belonged all to the Vikings. Princeton scored 21 points, and knocked down 5-of-6 three pointers.
Sophomore Bowen Hardman scored 9 of his team-high 20 points in the third quarter. He finished the third quarter shooting 3-of-3 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from behind the arc. Hardman connected on 5-of-7 three pointers in the game.
Senior Kahlil Davis also knocked down a pair of three pointers. He finished the game with 8 points and 3 rebounds.
Princeton shot 7-of-9 from the floor in the third quarter, and limited Winton Woods to 2-of-10 shooting in the quarter.
The Vikings carried the momentum into the fourth quarter, finishing the second half with a 65 percent field goal percentage.
Senior Deairius Randle finished the game with 15 points and 4 assists.
Senior Jahiem Thomas brought down a game-high 8 rebounds to go along with his 9 points.
In the game, Princeton scored 16 points off 10 turnovers. The Vikings finished the game shooting 48.9 percent from the floor.
The Vikings return to action at Hamilton High School on Friday, February 28th at 7:00 PM against Lakota West High School. The two teams split earlier this season, with the Vikings winning their most recent match-up 82-77 on Friday, January 24th. Pre-sale tickets ($6.00) are available in the Athletic Office.
