Boys Basketball wins GMC Opener against Oak Hills 52-45

The Princeton boys' basketball team defeated the Oak Hills Highlanders, 52-45 on Friday, December 4th at Princeton High School. The Vikings improve to 1-1 on the season, and 1-0 in the Greater Miami Conference. Coach Wyant records his first victory as the Vikings head basketball coach.

Bowen Hardman scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the first half to help the Vikings take a 26-22 lead at halftime. Hardman connected on four 3-pointers in the first half, as the Vikings shot 48 percent from the floor. He finished with 5 total three-pointers made.

Princeton extended its lead to 17 points in the second half with great defensive pressure, resulting in 9 points off turnovers in the third quarter. The Vikings had 11 defensive stops and converted 7-of 16 field goals in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Highlanders connected on 11-of-14 free throws to outscore the Vikings 13-11.

Guard Riley Woods knocked down two big free throws down the stretch, and a quick layup off a turnover to help seal the team's victory. Woods also led the team with 4 steals.

The Vikings finished the game shooting 46.3 percent from the floor. Rodney Harris scored 12 points off 6-of-9 shooting. He had a game-high 2 blocks to go along with 4 rebounds.

Defensively, Princeton limited Oak Hills to 2-of-11 shooting from behind the arc. The Vikings forced 18 turnovers and outrebounded the Highlanders 20-17.

Princeton travels to Lakota West on Tuesday, December 8th.
