Basketball Vikings Open League Play with Road Win

The Princeton men's basketball team opened up league play with a 46-42 win against the Sycamore Aviators on Friday, December 7th at Sycamore High School. The Vikings improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Greater Miami Conference.

Princeton jumped out to a 11-5 first quarter lead and took a 21-19 lead into the locker room.]

Deairus Randle led the offense with 15 points off 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Baker added 8 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block shot.

Coach Wright and the Vikings doubled the Aviators in scoring during the 3rd quarter of play.

Leading 33-25 after three quarters of play, Sycamore made a late push to cut into Princeton's lead. Sycamores' Ben Yuskewich and Oliver Wittenbaum scored 15 and 11 points respectively to lead the Aviators.

During the strong push by Sycamore, the Vikings remained poised down the stretch to secure the hard fought win. Princeton knocked down 6-of-11 free throws in the game.

Khalil Davis scored 10 points, and Bowen Hardman added 7 points off the bench.

As a team, Princeton outrebounded Sycamore 29-20. The Vikings recorded 13 offensive rebounds and shot 44 percent from the floor.

Princeton returns to action on Tuesday, December 11th versus Hamilton at Princeton High School. The freshman game will start at 4:30pm, followed by the JV game at 6:00pm, and the varsity game getting underway at approximately 7:30pm.
